SkinEase Tallow Honey Balm contains four things: beef tallow, organic Italian olive oil, raw honey and essential oils. No water phase, no preservatives, nothing you need to look up.

Turn over an ordinary face cream and read it. Thirty ingredients, three of which you recognise. Emulsifiers holding water and oil together, preservatives keeping the water free of bacteria, thickeners giving the cream its texture.
There's nothing wrong with that — it's how a water-based cream has to be built. But if you've found your way here, it's probably because you wanted something else.
SkinEase has no water phase. Without water there's no need for preservatives or emulsifiers, and what's left is four ingredients.
About beef tallow
Tallow is rendered beef fat, and it's one of the oldest skincare ingredients there is — used long before the chemical industry existed, and enjoying a revival over the past few years.
The reason is that the fat composition of tallow resembles that of the human skin barrier, so the balm melts in rather than sitting as a film on top. It's solid in the jar and melts on contact with skin.
The olive oil makes it easier to spread, the honey adds moisture, and the essential oils give it its scent. That's the whole recipe.

How to use it
- Take a pea-sized amount with a clean, dry fingertip or a small spatula.
- Warm it between your fingers until it melts — a few seconds is enough.
- Press it into the skin rather than rubbing. The balm should melt in, not be scrubbed in.
- Use it in the evening as the last step in your routine, after any serum.
Less goes further than you'd think. If your skin feels greasy you've used too much — halve it next time. The balm firms up in the cold and softens in warmth; that's fat behaving like fat.
Worth knowing
This product contains animal fat and honey, so it isn't suitable if you live vegetarian or vegan. If you have a known allergy to bee products or beef protein, avoid it.
Rich oil balms don't suit every skin type. If your skin is oily or acne-prone, tallow can block pores — try a small area first and wait a couple of days. Avoid contact with the eyes and don't use on broken skin.

Frequently asked questions
Does it smell of tallow?
Rendered tallow has no noticeable smell of its own, and the essential oils give the balm its scent. If you're sensitive to fragrance, try a small amount first.
Will it leave my skin greasy?
Only if you use too much, which is the most common mistake. A pea-sized amount covers the whole face. Press the balm in rather than rubbing, and it melts in instead of sitting on top.
Can I use it during the day?
You can, but most people prefer evenings because the balm is rich. If you want to use it in the daytime, use half as much and let it absorb before applying makeup.
Why is it hard sometimes and soft other times?
It's fat, and fat firms up in the cold. If the jar has been somewhere cool, just warm the balm between your fingers a little longer. It doesn't affect the contents.
How long does an opened jar keep?
Follow the shelf-life marking on the jar. Take the balm out with clean, dry fingers or a spatula — water and dirt getting into the jar is what shortens the life of a product without preservatives.
How long does a jar last?
A long time. A rich balm is used in very small amounts, and most people are surprised how little goes each time.
